Medical Brigades focuses on addressing the main health issues that the communities currently face due to inaccessibility to health providers or public health education. Many of the communities we visit live in extremely rural areas with very limited means of transportation to routinely visit a primary care physician. Oftentimes, the closest hospital is several hours away by car. Medical Brigades provides a mobile health clinic to address their immediate health concerns with the help of local physicians, pharmacists, and dentists. Additionally, we work with local community health leaders to develop public health workshops on maintaining healthy lifestyle choices that will prevent further health problems in the future.

Volunteers will:

  • Shadow licensed physicians during patient consultation sessions
  • Assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists
  • Assist during triage and patient medical history in-take
  • Hold public health workshops for the children in the community
  • Utilize electronic medical records system to help track patient progress

Please note that the medical and dental brigades are combined in order to ensure a more efficient and thorough quality of care for the community members. Prior medical or dental experienced is not required to participate in a brigade.
