LA Community

Community Brigades is the new facet to Global Brigades at UCLA that will be set as our LA community outreach component. Community Brigades brings home the mission of empowering students who volunteer abroad with us through our trips. Volunteers will take what they have learned and apply it to the Los Angeles community in sustainable and enriching ways.

Volunteers will:

  • Mentor and tutor students from the LAUSD area, and provide them with a larger range of occupations that positively impact their community and the global arena.
  • Help with health and development fairs in the LA area (in partnership with LA Public Health Alliance) to raise awareness of local resources ranging from health facilities to legal help.
  • Gain knowledge on need-based assessments, grant writing, and a general experience of social work.
